Masha in training

Summercore 2007

Day Four Summary

  • Photohop Skills and Challenge
  • Please take this picture of Masha or this picture of Margie and put it in a folder called A9 Photoshop on your desktop
  • Please go to Google Images or Flickr and get a graphic of some place in the world where you would like to use as a background picture … hold onto the URL so that you can practice of “attribution”
  • One nice feature of ADVANCED SEARCH within Google involves finding a picture over 500K or 1000meg so that you have high resolution
  • Download the picture into the same folder, perhaps renaming it
  • Launch Photoshop and open both files in two side by side windows … WITHIN Photoshop
  • You will want to use the IMAGE SIZE fearture to change the size or resolution of one of the pictures … the resolution should be 72
  • Now use one of the methods taught in class to make a “fake but authentic” or “Forrest Gump” picture
  • Put a border around the outside of the picture (”stroke means border”) that matches one of the colors within the picture
  • Use the text feature to add the text with what URL you got the picture from
  • Flatten the picture (”which means SMUSH the LAYERS into one”)
  • Save as a JPEG
  • Here is a sample or two from earlier this summer: Rob from FL or Lizzie from FL
  • If time allows (and it may not), please post on your blog as assignment A9 (or whatever number we are up to)

Viewing MS office docs on the blog

Its seems to me that ThinkFree viewer we found in the “Plug in” tab is not serving its purpose. As soon as you disactivate this feature, you can click to the link  to open the real “alive” MS document (Word, Excell, Power Point). This way you wont loose precious formating and graphics you’ve spent so much time on. Try and you will see!
